چکیده
Abstract Introduction The relationship between sleep disruption and depressive symptoms is well established. Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) commonly associated with emotional dysregulation decreased quality. Less known about the course of mTBI its association mood over time. We hypothesized that those in acute stages (2W; 1M) would significantly differ quality compared healthy controls. As there are often sex differences depression, we focused here exclusively on males mTBI. Methods This study included 56 males, split into six groups. sample 15 (Mage=23.67, SD=5.066) 41 (Mage=26.88, SD=8.509) mTBI, at differing post-injury: 2 weeks 1, 3, 6, 12 months. Participants completed Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) Beck Depression (BDI-II) to assess disturbance mood, respectively. Higher scores both measures indicate a more severe presentation disruptive symptoms. conducted one-way ANOVA examine how mean score for varied each time point. Results Compared controls was no significant variance average depression 2W, 1M, 6M, 12M (p>.05). However, 3M post-mTBI reported higher than M =9.8, SD=9.48, p=.035. greater when =7.30, SD=3.16, p=.035 M=7.0, SD=3.39, p=.037, but not other points. Conclusion Contrary our hypotheses, found did vary from either measure These results may initially present post-mTBI, which could result an inaccurate assessment severity improper treatment plan moving forward recovery. Further research larger size be useful establishing suffering experience most roughly after injury. Future work will need whether these same trends among females. Support (if any) W81XWH-12-1-0386

Post-traumatic anosmia in patients with mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI): A systematic and illustrated review
BACKGROUND Olfactory dysfunction (OD) is a disorder associated with traumatic brain injury (TBI), which is prevalent in up to 20% of patients suffering from TBI. Nevertheless, most studies focusing on the relationship between OD and TBIs do not differentiate between the different types of TBI (mild, medium, and severe). In this paper, we conducted a comprehensive and systematic review of the ex...
متن کاملPrediction of post-traumatic complaints after mild traumatic brain injury: early symptoms and biochemical markers.
OBJECTIVES To identify parameters at first presentation after mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI) that are predictive of the severity of post-traumatic complaints (PTC) after six months. Early recognition of patients with MTBI who are at risk of developing PTC would be useful because early follow up at the outpatient clinic may help to reduce the severity of these complaints in the long run. M...

This article describes ischemic symptoms following post-traumatic vasospasm in a patient with mild traumatic brain injury. A 17-year-old female presented with left hemiparesia, confusion and right mydriasis 14 days after a moderate head injury resulting in brain contusion and basal cisternal sub-arachnoid hemorrhage. Bilateral supraclinoidal internal carotid artery vasospasm and a right anterio...
متن کاملBrain morphometry changes and depressive symptoms after traumatic brain injury.
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is associated with an increased risk of depressive symptoms. Recent imaging studies on spontaneous depression have implicated several brain structures; however, few studies have done the same for post-TBI depression. We report on a pilot observational study correlating atrophy of brain regions of interest in subjects after TBI with depressive symptoms measured by th...
